The island Madame
A few minutes from the Ile Verte campground, discover Ile Madame. It is part of the Charente Maritime. It is one of the smallest of its archipelago. Indeed, its surface is 0.78 km². It is accessed by the Passe aux Boeufs, a sand and pebble path that links the island to the mainland.
Be careful, if you want to go to the island, remember to watch the tides. The island is accessible only at low tide.
The island is very wild, there is very little construction. Recently, a farm offers local products: oysters, clams, sea bream, salicornia…
If you like peace and quiet and being in the heart of nature, without a sound, then Île Madame is a must. Come and discover its magnificent beaches, where peace and quiet are a must. It is also said that Ile Madame is a good place for fishing on foot. All around the island, you can see many “carrelets”.
As you walk around the island, you will discover its history. You will be able to see a large cross of pebbles, but also bunkers and a military fortification which were used to defend Rochefort. For a relaxing interlude in a preserved setting, opt for a visit to Ile Madame, near the Ile Verte campsite.
The island of Oleron
Come and discover the breathtaking landscapes of the island of Oleron. Located only a few minutes from the Ile Verte campsite, this 174 km² island is a must-see during your vacations in Charente Maritime. Oleron the bright, is called so because of its high rate of sunshine throughout the year, is accessible by the bridge. The latter is one of the three largest in France.
On the island of Oleron, come and recharge your batteries in a calm and family atmosphere. There are a number of walks to do to visit and discover the splendid landscapes that surround you. Get on your bike and follow the trails that will take you to breathtaking places. Here the fauna and flora are preserved.
During your walks, you will cross forests, marshes, beaches, but also pretty small authentic villages. This island of undeniable charm has kept its wild side. You can enjoy its beautiful beaches. Put down your towel and rest. Or try out the various sports activities offered by the island’s water sports centers.

The Island of Aix
The island of Aix is the smallest commune of the Charente-Maritime. It is located off the peninsula of Fouras and east of the island of Oleron. It is a jewel. A fragile place that we must preserve. The island is classified on the list of remarkable natural sites. This small crescent of land is 3 kilometers long and 700 meters wide. It is necessary to discover it on foot or by bicycle, the car traffic having been limited.
The Island of Ré
Just cross the bridge to discover all the wonderful facets of the Ile de Ré. Stroll through the ten villages of the fourth largest island in France. Enjoy its varied landscapes: beaches, marinas, salt marshes, forests, … you will inevitably fall under the charm of this magnificent island.
